Calorie Savers: Tips for guilt-free cooking and baking!

  • Nonstick cooking spray instead of oil (for stovetop cooking)

  • Canned pumpkin instead of eggs & oil (for baking)

  • Light vanilla soymilk or unsweetened almond milk instead of milk or cream

  • Unsweetened applesauce instead of butter or oil

  • Ground-turkey or chicken instead of ground beef

  • Use egg beaters instead of eggs

  • Splenda No Calorie Sweetener (granular), Truvia or Stevia instead of sugar

  • Use bananas, agave syrup or honey as a natural sweetener

  • Butternut squash instead of potatoes 

  • Use water in shakes/smoothies instead of milk…or do 50/50

  • Use crystal light for shakes, smoothies and cocktails

  • Substitute oats or whole what flour for white flour when baking

  • Spaghetti squash as a substitute for spaghetti noodles

  • For lasagne, substitute thin zucchini slices for lasagne noodles.
